  1. An aquarium is a tank or similar container
  2. used for the study and display of living 
  3. aquatic plants and animals. The same name is
  4. used for institutions that exhibit aquatic
  5. life. These have been common since Roman 
  6. times, but the first modern public aquarium
  7. was opened in Regent's Park, London, in 1853.
  8. A recent development is the oceanarium or 
  9. seaquarium, a large display of marine life 
  10. forms which can be viewed by the public in 
  11. large "Sea World" entertainment parks.
